Scout refers to herself and Jem as Boo's "children". What does this image suggest about how she has matured since the days when she played the Boo Radley game?

That she doesn't see herself being rude about Boo anymore. That she respects Boo Radley for who he is, and not what people say about him. -Korleen. May 14th 2010. 3:43pm.

Scout realizes the truth about Boo, she learns to respect him and to not judge him. Scout now knows that, Boo is just a extremly shy man who prefers to watch where no one can see him. Jenny May 16 2010

I agree with what Jenny says. Scout just realized the truth about Boo. Overall with the book, I personally think that part one wasn't good, and so wasn't the beginning of part two, but from chapter 22-31 was the best of the entire whole novel. -Korleen. May 16th 2010. 9:28pm.

I agree with the above statements, I think that she is starting to accept Boo for who he is as a person and not to believe stuff that isn't true. I think she made a good decision doing this. Andrew- may 16 10:30

What did you think of the trail and how each "witness" said what happened? Are they telling the truth or not?

The trail, for me, was very emotional. I think that Mayaella Ewell is, like Atticus said, guilty for what she did, and that Tom Robinson is innocent. Tom Robinson, I think, is telling the truth and not Mayaella Ewell. -Korleen. May 5th 2010. 10:33pm.

I think that Tom Robinson is innocent and Mayaella Ewell is guilty just like atticus said. I agree with Korleen how this part is emotional only because I think Tom Robinson is innocent and i'm on Toms side. Andrew may 5 11:30 pm

I also think that the trial is just something blown out of proportion, because of the Ewell family. Tom Robinson is innocent, everyone can see that, but because of him being colored skined, he is being blame for something that he didn't do. I think that Bob Ewell is at fault here, and Mayaella is just covering up for her dad because maybe her father threathened her or something. So personally, I think Bob Ewell should be sent to jail, not Tom Robinson. -Korleen. May 9th 2010. 7:35pm.

I'm with Korleen, Tom didn't do anything but is getting all the blame. Bob should be the one sent to jail and Mayaella is obviously going to take her fathers side so this whole thing is just a bunch of lies. Andrew May10 10:00am

I think it was pretty obvious Mayella was lying. Her facts were mixed up while Tom told the honest truth. I think what really happened was Mayella tried to kiss Tom and her father saw. Then once Tom ran away Mr Ewell beat Mayella for trying to kiss Tom. And then the police officer heard and tried to help. Therefore Tom is telling the truth, and not the Ewell's. Jenny, May 10 9:38

I think that this trial is very trematic foe everyone involved including Mayella. I think that Bob forced her to do this to cover up him abuseing her so she was lying. Bob was just trying to get respect in the comunity. go habs-Michael May 12 10:26

What do you think would have happened if Scout, Jem, and Dill did not show up at the jail when they did?

I think that if they hadn’t shown up at the jail nothing extremely bad would have happened but, the situation would have become a lot more tense. The reason for this is that Atticus had back up even though he didn’t know it. If Mr Underwood was there with a shot gun watching from his window and if he used the gun as a prevention I don’t think any harm would come to Tom or Atticus. Jenny 28/4/2010 8:55

I think that it nothing really bad would have happened. Atticus was pretty well the point of the attack but he did have some backup unknowingly. I'm sure no harm would have come on anyone on Atticus's side.Mike April 28 9:15

I agree with the above, but i think if they didn't show up when they did than this story would have changed in a way that Scout, Jem and Dill would have looked mysterious and as Jenny said make it more tense. I found this party kinda confusing because with all the guns involved and being at a prison i really had no clue what was going to happen which made it suspenseful which i loved! Andrew April 28 10:05

I agree with Andrew I like seupense and it tunrns out that this part in the novel ended up being my favorite part so far.i also had questions about the circumstances that made them bring out the guns and how they lost all control.Mike May 2 3:25

I agree with what Jenny and Mike said. Nothing big would've happened but is was tense. Also what Andrew said about being kind of confusing, it took me a little bit to understand what was going on. Atticus did have unknowingly protection from Mr. Underwood. So I agree with all that is said above. -Korleen. May 2nd 2010. 4:28pm.

I agree with it being confusing. I had to reread the part to fully understand what was happening. If Jem, Scout and Dill hadn’t shown up at the jail I don’t think they would have realized how bad the situation was for Atticus. When they saw what was happening that night, I believe it was at that point they really understood that what Atticus was doing had turned a lot of Maycomb against him. Jenny 2/5/2010 9:00pm

I think all of you are making great points about this part of the book. I would have to agree with Mike, I think this was my favourite part also even though i found it confusing after it was all read it gradually made more sense when i thought about it. Andrew May 2 11:35pm

What do you think about the reactions from Jem and Scout about seeing snow for the first time? If you were them (and had never seen snow before) how would you react? What would be the first thing you would do and why?

If had never seen snow before I would probably not react the same way scout did. First off I would be happy to be off school for a day. secondly I would hav e to go out side and have a snowball fight with the kids around the neigborhood. After that was done i would go throw snowballs at the Radley house to see if Boo would come out.-mike 7:14 April 21

If i was in Jem or Scouts shoes, and saw snow for the first time i would not no what was going on! I would find it really weird and be asking a bunch of people why there is this white cold stuff everywhere? I agree with Mike i would defiantly want to have a snow ball fight with my neighbourhood. Over all I think I would be very confused and puzzled at first but than would really start to like it as I got used to it. Andrew 7:33 April 21

If I was seeing snow for the first time, I think I would do the same thing as Scout, scream. It'd be weird to see snow for the first time. I also agree with what Andrew said, I'd ask people why there is white cold stuff on everything. It'd be confusing and puzzling as to why everything is white. -Korleen 9:32am April 22nd.

I think Jem and Scout’s reactions were very realistic. If I were them, I would probably be like Scout and scream but I wouldn’t think the world was ending. The first thing I would do is the same as Mike and throw snowballs at Boo Radley’s house to see if he would come out. I would also want to taste and touch the snow to try and understand what it is. Jenny 25/4/2010 4:05pm

I can see where the screaming would come from but I would see that as a logical reaction to snow. But as kids I could see where Scout and Jem could have a reaction like that. I would go and throw snowballs at the Radley place and see if he would come out like i'm sure Jem would think of. Mike April 25 7:03

I dont know if there would be screaming but Scout and Jem would defiantly be in a panic mode and very confused mabey even a little scared. I Agree with Jenny when she is saying this is very realistic and how this has happened to many people in this world. Andrew April 25 11:20

What are your opinions on Boo Radley and why?

I personally think that Boo Radley is a bit scary, because of the description of his character and what he has done to his family.
I don't think anyone should really act like that, or stab your father with scissors then pretending like nothing happened. But at the same time I think he is angry with his parents for some reason that wasn't mentioned in the novel. -Korleen.

I think that Boo Radley is just misunderstood. the kids have never seen him but they are just assuming what he looks like from him being a shutin. So the children are not a good source to get information about Boo Radley. They should be getting more information before discussing about his person like that saying he eat animals raw.-mike

I also think that Boo Radley is misunderstood. What people say about him is just rumours and lies that have been spread through the town. I think that the children have big imaginations that make him more mysterious and scary than he really is, I believe that he prefers being close to his home and is just antisocial. Atticus told the children off for sneaking around Boo Radley's house because, they shouldn't be judging him before they know him. I agree with him. Jenny 14/4/2010

Now that I think of it, I agree with Jenny, the children have to big imaginations, and assume stuff of Boo Radley. Although to never come out of your house and just stay away from people is kind of weird. Mike also has a point about the children not being a good source. -Korleen 17/04/09 6:28pm.

the thing with Boo Radley is they are always asuming about what he is like ans looks like from his lifestyle. He could just be anti social or have something wrong with him. He could have also heard about what they were saying and now is to embarresed to go out side and be show as a monster in front of every one.the main thing is that we don't know much about him. I Get the big imagination thing like Jenny said but it could be hurtful to Boo Radley.-Mike April 18 11:06

I think Boo Radley finds what the children are saying about him funny more than hurtful, assuming that it was him laughing when Scout walked by his home. I still believe the reason Atticus and the other adults tell the children off is because it's still disrespectful to say things about other people. As I continue to read To Kill A
Mockingbird I find that the author is slowly showing the readers that Boo Radley is a good man, and not what the children think. Jenny 18/4/2010 1:02

I would have to agree with the majority of these statements, because there all pretty much saying Boo Radley is a creepy man. In my perspective he is odd because he stays in his house all day and isnt sociable person. I agree with what Jenny said how the children have big imaginations and that effects what they think of Boo Radley. I think as i read on this novel, Boo will change and people will think different of him as the book goes on. Andrew 18/4/2010 10:34
